Enhancing WordPress Security with Patchstack

Website security has become critical in today’s digital landscape. With WordPress powering approximately 43% of all websites globally, it has become a popular target for hackers and cyber attacks.

We continually keep plugins up to date and install security fixes quickly, but occasionally we need extra protection while waiting for plugin developers to release fixes. This is why we’ve recently implemented a service called Patchstack.

What is Patchstack?

Patchstack is a powerful service that discloses WordPress security vulnerabilities and provides virtual patching and Web Application Firewall (WAF) protection for WordPress websites. They also have a partnership with our favorite security plugin, Solid Security Pro, which makes it easy to integrate with the sites we manage.

How Virtual Patching Works

The main benefit of Patchstack is its virtual patching capability, which helps prevent known threats from being exploited by creating custom WAF rules specific to known vulnerabilities. This proactive approach means your site is protected even before official plugin or theme updates are available.

Why We’re Using Patchstack

  • Provides immediate protection against newly discovered vulnerabilities
  • Creates custom WAF rules tailored to specific threats
  • Complements existing security measures like Solid Security
  • Offers real-time threat monitoring and protection

Part of Our Comprehensive Security Approach

Patchstack works alongside our existing security measures, including:

  • Regular WordPress core and plugin updates
  • Server-level security configurations
  • Regular backups and monitoring
  • SSL certificates and secure hosting environments

We’re always looking for ways to proactively protect our clients’ sites and with the addition of Patchstack virtual patching, we’ve enhanced our security infrastructure and provided additional protection against emerging threats, ensuring our clients’ websites remain secure and run smoothly.
