It was a year when many small businesses struggled to stay afloat. A year when nonprofit organizations, including many of our clients, found themselves in the political crosshairs of an administration openly hostile to civic institutions and public-interest work.
National priorities shifted as funding was cut and uncertainty grew, but the one thing that didn’t waver was our commitment to working with organizations committed to social impact.
Change Brings Clarity
At the start of the year, we said goodbye to Mica, an integral design director on our team, as she began a new chapter overseas in Europe. We’re grateful for her impact on Visceral and excited for what’s ahead for her.
We welcomed two new designers, Abby and Payam, who stepped in with a shared belief that design should move missions forward. They didn’t just fill roles. They strengthened the team.
And in the midst of it all, the Visceral family grew as Dana welcomed a beautiful, healthy baby into the world. Watching our team grow not just professionally but personally is one of the clearest reminders that building a people-first company is worth the effort.
Showing Up When It Counts
In 2025, we were honored by the County of San Diego as a High Road Employer for the second time, recognition for investing in our team and contributing to an equitable local economy.
Through our work with Business For Good San Diego, we helped support advocacy efforts that strengthen San Diego and protect policies that prioritize equity, sustainability, and community wellbeing.
We also re-certified as a B Corporation and offset our carbon footprint, reaffirming our commitment to balancing profit and purpose.
Staying Sharp
Determination also means continuing to learn.
In 2025, our team attended Engage for Good, the AMA Art of Marketing, RenderATL, and ComNet25 where we hosted a poster session titled “Centering Science in Comms that Matter” alongside our client Energy Innovation.
Behind the scenes, we strengthened the way we work so our clients feel it where it matters most.
We refined our internal systems to increase clarity, speed, and accountability across every engagement. We elevated WordPress security standards across client sites to proactively reduce risk and protect critical data. We deepened our commitment to accessibility to ensure the digital experiences we build are usable by everyone.
We invest in growth because the landscape is evolving, and our clients deserve partners who evolve with it.
Work That Mattered
Through it all, we partnered with organizations advancing climate solutions, equitable mobility, disability rights, higher education access, economic justice, and bipartisan policy reform.
In partnership with extraordinary teams, we:
- Designed a flexible, content-rich website platform for the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) that helps connect and mobilize North American cities around safe, sustainable, and accessible urban transportation best practices.
- Partnered with the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to design and develop a dynamic website for openRxiv that empowers rapid, open sharing of biomedical research.
- Worked with Carbon Capture Coalition to create a website that supports its nonpartisan collaboration in advancing federal policy and scaling deployment of carbon management technologies nationwide.
- Helped bring to life the PathBreakers digital experience for Kresge’s interactive 2024 Annual Report, celebrating and amplifying stories of visionary leaders tackling barriers to equity and opportunity in American cities.
- Partnered with the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) to build a strategic, advocacy-focused website that promotes tangible, equitable clean energy policies throughout the Southeast.
- Designed a website for the National Organization on Disability that amplifies its mission of advancing inclusive employment and eliminating barriers for people of all abilities in the workforce.
- Created a website for Nonprofit Finance Fund that supports its mission of providing tailored financing, consulting, and advocacy to strengthen nonprofits’ financial resilience and community impact.
- Developed a strategic platform for Bipartisan Policy Center that advances their evidence-based policy solutions to the nation’s most pressing issues by bringing leaders from both sides of the aisle together.
Moving Forward
2025 reminded us that the work we do, supporting nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and institutions committed to public good, matters even more when the pressure increases.
We’re proud of all the work we did in 2025 and are hopeful for an even more impactful year in 2026.
With gratitude,
The Visceral Team
