Perfecting the Voice of a Foundation
The Heising-Simons Foundation advances sustainable solutions in climate and clean energy, education, human rights, science and Bay Area communities.
Having awarded their first grant in 2007, the Foundation is a relatively new philanthropic organization. Over the last five years, their scope of work has evolved. With this growth, a need for a new communication strategy and supportive channels became essential. The Foundation engaged Visceral to create a new website that would serve as a primary communications channel to support a refreshed brand identity and share their story.
The resulting website positions the Foundation as a credible, thoughtful contributor to social change. It brings to life the issues they care about by highlighting the work, research, and knowledge of the grantees.
Explore Program Areas
Working closely with the Foundation we crafted unique explorations of each of their program areas. The pages explain the priorities of the program, detail into program strategies and highlight awarded grants.
Get to know the Grantees
The site highlights grantees and their work as it relates to the Foundation’s programs areas. With over 100 grants active at any given time, it was important that this format be as flexible as it is informative.
View Grants Awarded
Scan through the Foundation’s awarded grants via a searchable grants database. Visceral developed a customize plug-in to power the database view on WordPress. The plug-in integrates with data from Cybergrants, the Foundation’s grants management platform.
The What’s New section allows HSF staff to post regular updates on program related work, Foundation activities, and field best practices. A simple but useful dropdown with categories, allows users to find updates by interest area.
