A Global Hub for Newborn Health Professionals

Save the Children

Approximately half of the estimated 5.9 million child deaths in 2015 took place in the first week of life. The majority of these deaths, as well as the estimated 2.6 million stillbirths are preventable with proven and effective interventions. As an initiative of the Save the Children, the Healthy Newborn Network (HNN) brings together partner organizations and health professionals working in newborn health to share key resources, data, experiences, and lessons with the noble goal of increasing global commitment to the advancement of newborn health.

HNN approached Visceral to strategize how a new website could better engage their visitors through interactive elements and data visualizations. This was an incredible opportunity to help a world-class organization highlight such an important issue.

The site serves as an online community of over 4,000 health professionals and advocates where visitors can find (and, most importantly, contribute) resources, news, blog posts and events about newborn and maternal health. We were tasked with making these resource types organized by specific topic areas and geographic regions. Getting the right information into the right hands can literally be the difference between life and death.
